A two-member team from the institute began work on designing the wireless architecture in June 2003; in the design process. The Connect Star access points / routers which were chosen for the WLAN are designed in such a way that one router/access point works as a switch.
The institute WLAN went live in October 2009. The actual commissioning and testing process took only three days to complete. We have installed around 42 wireless routers in the campus and three wireless outdoor units inside the campus.
There are around 180 wireless pci/usb installed in the machines and there are 40 laptops being used at various applications.
